Overview

MF4637 is a high-concentrate omega-3 fatty acid medical food preparation containing eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) ethyl ester (460 mg per 1 g capsule) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) ethyl ester (380 mg per 1 g capsule), administered as three capsules daily to provide 1.38 g EPA and 1.14 g DHA. Developed to address omega-3 nutritional deficiency in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), it significantly increases the red blood cell omega-3 index (RBC EPA + DHA) and reduces the RBC omega-6:omega-3 ratio compared to placebo in a 24-week randomized controlled trial. Exploratory outcomes suggested potential benefits on hepatic fat content measured by MRI-PDFF, alongside reductions in triglycerides, with a favorable safety profile.[1][3][6]
