Drug intelligence / Profile preview
mFOLFOX6 is a combination chemotherapy regimen primarily used to treat colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal cancers. The regimen consists of three drugs: leucovorin calcium (folinic acid), fluorouracil (5-FU), and oxaliplatin. These agents work together to destroy rapidly dividing cells, such as cancer cells, by interfering with DNA synthesis and function. Leucovorin enhances the effectiveness of fluorouracil, while oxaliplatin is a platinum-based agent that causes DNA crosslinking and cell death. mFOLFOX6 is administered intravenously in cycles, typically every two weeks[1][2][3][4][5]. It is considered standard care for adjuvant treatment in colorectal cancer and may also be used in combination with other agents for advanced or metastatic disease.
