mFOLFOX6 + Alvenor

mFOLFOX6 + Alvenor is a combination therapy consisting of the mFOLFOX6 chemotherapy regimen (oxaliplatin, leucovorin, and 5-fluorouracil) and Alvenor (citrus flavonoid tablets, also known as Aimailang). This regimen is being investigated by the Sixth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, as a neoadjuvant and adjuvant treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer, specifically in patients with high expression of YWHAB (Tyrosine 3-monooxygenase/tryptophan 5-monooxygenase activation protein beta). The mFOLFOX6 component acts through DNA cross-linking and inhibition of thymidylate synthase to induce cytotoxicity. The citrus flavonoid component, Alvenor, is hypothesized to modulate signaling pathways or the tumor microenvironment associated with YWHAB expression, potentially enhancing the efficacy of standard chemotherapy or mitigating its toxicities in this specific patient population.
