Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MG-013 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Shanghai Maiji Biotechnology (MageBio) for the treatment of immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN). It targets A Proliferation-Inducing Ligand (APRIL), also known as TNFSF13, which is a member of the tumor necrosis factor superfamily. APRIL plays a pivotal role in the survival and differentiation of B cells and is a key driver in the production of galactose-deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1), the primary pathogenic factor in IgAN. By neutralizing APRIL, MG-013 aims to reduce the levels of circulating Gd-IgA1 and immune complexes, thereby mitigating glomerular inflammation and slowing the progression of renal disease. The drug is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers.
