MG-S-2525 is an oral, small molecule kinase inhibitor developed by Metagone Biotech for the treatment of respiratory diseases, particularly idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and bronchiectasis. It acts as a selective inhibitor of mitogen-activated protein kinase 19 (MAP3K19), a protein highly expressed in lung tissue and implicated in fibrotic and inflammatory processes. Preclinical studies demonstrated that MG-S-2525 effectively reduces fibrosis and inflammation in animal models, outperforming existing therapies such as pirfenidone. The drug has received Orphan Drug Designation from the US FDA for IPF and has completed Phase I clinical trials showing high safety at doses up to 800 mg. As of early 2024, it is in Phase II development for both IPF and bronchiectasis[2][3][8].
