MG1-E6E7 is an investigational oncolytic virus vaccine based on the Maraba (MG1) virus, engineered to express mutant forms of the human papillomavirus (HPV) E6 and E7 proteins. Upon administration, MG1 preferentially infects tumor cells and induces expression of these antigens, leading to direct lysis of tumor cells and stimulation of a robust anti-tumor immune response targeting HPV-associated cancers. The therapy is designed for patients with advanced cancers associated with HPV, such as cervical cancer, head and neck cancer, esophageal cancer, and anal cancer. The approach leverages both the cytolytic activity of the oncolytic virus and its ability to boost anti-HPV immunity by presenting foreign viral antigens that are also drivers of tumor growth[1][3][4].
