Overview

MGA CRISPR-sgRNA refers to single guide RNA (sgRNA) sequences designed to target the MGA (MAX Gene Associated) gene using the CRISPR/Cas9 system. In research presented at AACR 2017, these sgRNAs were delivered via lentiviral vectors to silence MGA expression in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cell lines, such as EOL-1. MGA is a MAX-interacting protein that acts as a transcription factor and potential tumor suppressor by suppressing MYC binding to its targets. Silencing MGA using this CRISPR-sgRNA approach has been shown to enhance cell proliferation and tumor growth in xenograft models, suggesting that loss of MGA function contributes to leukemogenesis.
