Overview

MGAWN1 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed for the treatment of West Nile virus (WNV) infections. It specifically targets and binds to the envelope (E) protein of WNV, exhibiting potent neutralizing and fusion-inhibitory activity against the virus. The mechanism of action involves inhibiting conformational changes in the E protein required for viral entry into host cells, thereby preventing infection progression. MGAWN1 was shown to be effective both prophylactically and therapeutically in animal models and demonstrated safety and tolerability in phase 1 clinical trials with healthy volunteers. Development was discontinued after phase 2 trials for WNV neuroinvasive disease[1][2][3][4][5].
