Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MGB-005 is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody candidate being developed by MetaGen Biologics. It targets the cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4), an immune checkpoint molecule that downregulates T-cell activation. By binding to CTLA-4, MGB-005 blocks its interaction with ligands CD80/CD86, thereby enhancing T-cell-mediated anti-tumor immune responses. It is being developed as a biosimilar to the reference product Yervoy (ipilimumab), with a primary focus on the treatment of melanoma. As of the latest pipeline updates, the drug is in the preclinical stage of development.
