Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MGD-1 is a synthesized phenylpropionic acid-based hybrid compound developed as a dual PPARα/γ agonist for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). In preclinical in vivo studies using a murine model of non-insulin-dependent diabetes, MGD-1 demonstrated an anti-hyperglycemic effect similar to Pioglitazone, reducing glucose levels from the third hour until the end of the assay. It is considered a safe experimental lead and a potential new molecule for T2DM treatment.
