MGT-001 is a fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) therapy being developed by Metagen Therapeutics for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. The drug consists of donor-derived fecal microbiota intended to restore a healthy intestinal microbiome in patients with dysbiosis. It is being evaluated in two primary delivery formats: an endoscopic administration and an oral capsule formulation. The development is conducted in collaboration with Juntendo University, focusing on modulating the gut environment to induce clinical remission in inflammatory bowel disease. The program has completed the Advanced Medical Care B pathway in Japan and is currently in Phase 1/2 global clinical trials.
