Overview

MHP1 (metastasis homing peptide 1) is a novel cyclic peptide identified through phage display technology, specifically designed to target metastatic prostate cancer. Developed by researchers at Columbia University and several collaborating institutions, MHP1 was selected for its high tumor-specificity and ability to home to metastatic lesions in various organs, including the bone, brain, and lymph nodes, in preclinical models. The peptide functions by binding to a receptor protein that is typically sequestered intracellularly in normal cells but becomes translocated to the cell surface in prostate cancer cells. MHP1 is intended to serve as a delivery vehicle for therapeutic agents, aiming to improve the treatment of advanced, metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
