Overview

MHU650 is an investigational drug developed for the treatment of macular edema associated with diabetic macular edema (DME), neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO). It has been studied as a single intravitreal injection in a first-in-human, open-label, single ascending dose Phase 1 clinical trial. The drug is described as either a monoclonal antibody or small molecule in different sources; however, most recent and primary sources from Novartis describe it as a monoclonal antibody. Its precise mechanism of action remains undefined publicly but it is designed to block two proteins implicated in fluid accumulation within the eye[1][2][4]. The development was led by Novartis and MorphoSys.
