Overview

mi-APO is a preclinical recombinant protein therapeutic being developed by Multimmune for the treatment of tumors that express membrane-bound heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70). The drug is a recombinant human granzyme B-based agent designed to exploit membrane Hsp70 as a tumor-specific portal. Upon binding to membrane Hsp70, mi-APO is internalized into the tumor cells in a perforin-independent manner, where it subsequently triggers the caspase cascade and induces apoptosis, selectively destroying Hsp70-positive cancer cells while sparing normal tissues.
