Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**MI Gel** is an experimental, orally administered colon-targeted composite hydrogel comprising *Morinda officinalis* polysaccharide and inulin. Produced through a hydrothermal process, the acid-resistant and mucoadhesive gel is designed to prolong intestinal retention and sustained colonic release of fermentable polysaccharides. In chronic kidney disease model mice, it reshaped gut microbiota, increased propionate and butyrate, reduced intestinal inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress, activated gut-kidney-axis-associated GPCR and PPARγ signaling, improved glomerular function, and attenuated renal fibrosis. It is a preclinical investigational therapeutic material and is not an approved medicine.
