Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MI027 is a topical small molecule drug candidate developed by Minorway (Wuxi) Pharmaceutical Technology for the treatment of photoaging. Photoaging refers to the premature aging of the skin caused by repeated exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which manifests as wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and pigmentation. MI027 acts as a retinoic acid receptor (RAR) agonist, modulating the signaling pathways that govern skin cell differentiation and collagen production. By activating these receptors, the drug aims to stimulate collagen synthesis and improve skin texture while potentially offering a better safety profile and reduced irritation compared to traditional retinoids like tretinoin. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in China.
