MIB-725 is a proprietary, orally administered small molecule developed as a modified precursor in the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) biosynthetic pathway. After oral administration, it undergoes biotransformation to increase NAD+ levels in the body. The drug is being developed by Metro International Biotech for the prevention and treatment of age-related diseases, with an initial focus on preventing acute kidney injury (AKI) in at-risk adults undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery. Preclinical studies have shown that MIB-725 acts as a potent NAD+ booster and may also function as a p53 activator. The compound is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics[1][3][4][5][7].
