Overview

Mibolerone is a potent synthetic anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) and a 17α-methylated derivative of nandrolone (19-nortestosterone). It is orally active and was developed primarily for veterinary use to suppress estrus (heat) in female dogs. Mibolerone acts as an agonist at the androgen receptor with higher affinity and selectivity than metribolone. It also binds to the progesterone receptor, exerting both androgenic and progestagenic effects. Its mechanism of action involves suppression of pituitary luteinizing hormone release, thereby inhibiting ovulation. Mibolerone has been used as a ligand in research for characterizing androgen receptors due to its high stability and binding affinity[1][2][3][4][5][6].
