Micetinoftalmina ointment

Micetinoftalmina is an ophthalmic ointment containing chloramphenicol (10 mg/g), developed and marketed by the Portuguese pharmaceutical company DÁVI. Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum small molecule antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, primarily exerting a bacteriostatic effect. It is indicated for the topical treatment of external eye infections and associated structures, including conjunctivitis, keratitis, blepharitis, and corneal ulcers, caused by susceptible microorganisms. The product is an approved, marketed medication in Portugal and is often used at night in combination with the eye drop formulation of the same name.
