Miconazole + boric acid is a combination of two active agents used primarily for the treatment and management of vaginal yeast infections, particularly in cases that are recurrent or resistant to standard therapies. Miconazole is an imidazole-class antifungal that inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting fungal growth and replication[5][6]. Boric acid is a weak acid with antifungal and antibacterial properties; it acts by disrupting the cell wall of fungi (notably Candida species), including strains resistant to azole antifungals, and helps restore vaginal pH balance[2][7][8]. This combination may be considered when monotherapy with either agent fails or in cases involving non-albicans Candida species.
