Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Micro V Probiotics is a probiotic formulation being evaluated by Sun Yat-sen University for the treatment of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). It is specifically targeted at patients who have shown a poor response to standard ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) monotherapy. The therapy aims to modulate the gut-liver axis by addressing intestinal flora dysbiosis, which is implicated in the pathogenesis of PBC. By altering the fecal microbial composition and metabolomics—including bile acids and short-chain fatty acids—the probiotic is intended to improve biochemical and immunological indicators of liver health and slow disease progression.
