Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MicrobeCare is a patented, EPA-registered antimicrobial technology designed to provide persistent protection against a broad spectrum of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and algae. Developed by MicrobeCare, LLC, a subsidiary of Parasol Medical, the product is primarily utilized as a biostatic coating for surfaces and medical devices in healthcare settings to mitigate the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). The active ingredient is a silane-based quaternary ammonium compound that forms a covalent bond with the treated surface, creating a durable, microscopic field of carbon-chain "spikes." These spikes carry a positive charge that attracts negatively charged microbes, physically piercing their cell membranes and causing immediate lysis. Unlike traditional chemical disinfectants that kill through toxicity and dissipate quickly, MicrobeCare functions through a mechanical mode of action that does not leach or promote the development of antimicrobial resistance.
