MicroCor hPTH(1-34) is a transdermal microneedle patch formulation of teriparatide, the recombinant human parathyroid hormone fragment 1-34, developed by Corium to provide needle-free delivery of an osteoanabolic therapy for osteoporosis.[4][7][13] Using Corium’s biodegradable MicroCor microneedle platform, the drug is incorporated into dissolving microstructures that penetrate only the stratum corneum, rapidly releasing hPTH(1-34) into systemic circulation to stimulate bone formation via the parathyroid hormone/parathyroid hormone-related peptide receptor while avoiding daily subcutaneous injections required for conventional teriparatide products.[1][4][7][11][13] The product has been evaluated in Phase 1 and Phase 2a clinical studies for osteoporosis, where it showed pharmacokinetic profiles comparable to subcutaneous teriparatide (Forteo) with favorable skin tolerability.[1][4][7][15][16]
