Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Microdacyn Wound Care is a super-oxidized solution (SOS) intended for the debridement, irrigation, and moistening of acute and chronic wounds, including ulcers, cuts, abrasions, and burns. Developed by Sonoma Pharmaceuticals (formerly Oculus Innovative Sciences), it is a pH-neutral, non-cytotoxic medical device composed of electrolyzed water containing hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and sodium hypochlorite. The solution acts by reducing microbial load through oxidative damage to microbial cell walls and inhibiting biofilm formation, while maintaining a moist environment conducive to tissue regeneration. It is designed to mimic the body's natural immune response (phagocytosis) without damaging healthy human tissue. In regions like New Zealand and Australia, it is distributed by Te Arai BioFarma and is registered as a Class IIb medical device.
