Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Microlyte is a synthetic polymeric wound matrix product line developed by Imbed Biosciences for the management of chronic and acute wounds. The device is composed of an absorbent polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) matrix with a polymeric surface coating that serves as a delivery platform for active agents. The standard Microlyte Matrix contains antimicrobial silver (in both ionic and metallic forms) to provide a barrier against microbial penetration and prevent infection. A specialized version, Microlyte Ag/Lidocaine, integrates both silver and lidocaine hydrochloride (40mg per 100cm²) to provide simultaneous antimicrobial protection and local anesthesia for pain management. The matrix is designed to conform closely to the wound bed, maintain a moist environment, and facilitate the healing of various partial- and full-thickness wounds.
