Overview

A microRNA-130b mimic is a synthetic double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to replicate the biological activity of the endogenous microRNA miR-130b. In the context of oncology, particularly ovarian cancer research, miR-130b has been identified as a regulator of chemoresistance. Experimental studies using ovarian cancer cell lines (such as A2780) have demonstrated that transfection with miR-130b mimics can lead to decreased sensitivity to chemotherapeutic agents like cisplatin and paclitaxel. This effect is associated with the downregulation of multidrug resistance-related markers, including P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and glutathione S-transferase (GST)-π, suggesting that miR-130b plays a complex role in modulating the cellular response to cytotoxic drugs.
