Overview

A microRNA-135b mimic is a synthetic, double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to simulate the biological activity of the endogenous microRNA miR-135b. In the context of colorectal cancer (CRC) research, miR-135b has been identified as an oncomiR that promotes cell survival and chemoresistance. The mimic is used to overexpress miR-135b, which directly targets and downregulates the tumor suppressor Large Tumor Suppressor Kinase 2 (LATS2). This downregulation leads to the inhibition of apoptosis and increases resistance to chemotherapeutic agents like doxorubicin. While the mimic itself is primarily a research tool used to elucidate the miR-135b/LATS2 signaling axis, the inhibition of this axis is considered a potential therapeutic target for CRC.
