Overview

microRNA-320a mimic is a synthetic, double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to mimic the biological activity of the endogenous tumor-suppressive microRNA, miR-320a. In various malignancies, including endometrial carcinoma, miR-320a expression is frequently downregulated, contributing to tumor progression. The mimic functions by binding to the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of specific target mRNAs, most notably the Insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R). This binding leads to the degradation of the target mRNA or the inhibition of its translation, thereby suppressing the activation of downstream oncogenic pathways such as PI3K/AKT and mTOR. Preclinical studies indicate that restoration of miR-320a levels via mimics can induce G2/M phase cell cycle arrest and promote apoptosis, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic agent in gene therapy for cancer.
