microRNA-323b-5p mimic is a synthetic RNA oligonucleotide designed to restore the activity of the endogenous microRNA miR-323b-5p, which often functions as a tumor suppressor. In non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), miR-323b-5p is frequently downregulated, and its low expression is associated with poor patient prognosis. The mimic operates by binding to the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of the Interleukin 1 Alpha (IL1A) messenger RNA, leading to its degradation or translational inhibition. By reducing IL1A levels, the mimic effectively suppresses cancer cell proliferation and modulates the cell cycle, specifically inducing arrest. This agent is primarily utilized in preclinical research to investigate miRNA-mediated gene regulation and as a potential therapeutic strategy for restoring miRNA-driven growth control in malignancies.
