A microRNA-338-3p mimic is a synthetic double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to replicate the biological activity of endogenous miR-338-3p. In the context of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), miR-338-3p acts as a tumor suppressor by directly targeting the transcription factor SOX4. Overexpression of miR-338-3p via mimics has been shown to inhibit the self-renewal of liver cancer stem cells (CSCs), suppress tumorigenesis, and enhance the sensitivity of HCC cells to lenvatinib-induced apoptosis. It is primarily utilized in preclinical research to investigate miRNA-mediated gene regulation and as a potential therapeutic strategy for liver cancer.
