microRNA-873 mimic is a synthetic, double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to replicate the biological activity of endogenous miR-873, a microRNA that functions as a tumor suppressor in various malignancies. In colorectal cancer (CRC), miR-873 expression is frequently downregulated, which correlates with advanced disease stages and poor patient survival. The miR-873 mimic acts by binding to the 3' untranslated regions (UTRs) of its target messenger RNAs, specifically **TNF receptor-associated factor 5 (TRAF5)** and **TGF-β activated kinase 1 (MAP3K7) binding protein 1 (TAB1)**. By downregulating these targets, the mimic inhibits the activation of the **NF-κB signaling pathway**, thereby suppressing cancer cell proliferation, migration, and progression. It is currently utilized in preclinical research to explore therapeutic strategies for restoring regulatory control in miR-873-deficient tumors.
