Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Midaform insulin is a proprietary nanoformulated insulin delivery system consisting of recombinant human insulin non-covalently bound to glycan-coated gold nanoparticles and embedded in a rapidly dissolving mucoadhesive PharmFilm placed on the inside of the cheek for transbuccal absorption. Developed by Midatech using its Midaform gold nanoparticle technology and MonoSol Rx's PharmFilm platform, licensed to their joint venture MidaSol Therapeutics, it mimics pancreatic monomeric insulin release with faster onset than subcutaneous injection, aiming to provide a needle-free alternative for diabetes management, particularly postprandial hyperglycemia.[2][3][5]
