Midkine monoclonal antibody is a biologic therapeutic designed to target and neutralize midkine (MK), a heparin-binding growth factor. Midkine plays a significant role in inflammatory and angiogenic processes, particularly in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. It promotes keratinocyte proliferation and angiogenesis by upregulating Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor A (VEGF-A) through the Notch2/HES1/JAK2-STAT5A signaling pathway. Research conducted at West China Hospital has demonstrated that midkine levels correlate with psoriasis severity and that treatment with a midkine-specific monoclonal antibody can alleviate skin lesions and reduce dermal microvessel density in animal models, highlighting its potential as a novel therapeutic strategy for chronic inflammatory skin diseases.
