Overview

mdma + palmitoylethanolamide (CMND-400) is a novel small-molecule combination drug candidate being developed by Clearmind Medicine in collaboration with Neurothera Labs. It consists of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), a synthetic empathogen, and palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), an endogenous fatty acid amide. The combination is primarily targeted at treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and eating disorders. MDMA's mechanism of action involves the release of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine by acting on their respective transporters (SERT, NET, and DAT) and activating TAAR1. PEA acts as an agonist of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α) and modulates the endocannabinoid system, providing anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects. The inclusion of PEA is intended to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of MDMA while potentially reducing its neurotoxicity and improving the overall safety profile of the treatment.
