Overview

MIDRIX-LUNG-002 is an autologous dendritic cell-based immunotherapy developed by Universitair Ziekenhuis Gent (Ghent University Hospital) for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is part of the MIDRIX platform, which utilizes naturally occurring dendritic cells (nDCs) isolated directly from the patient's peripheral blood, rather than traditional monocyte-derived dendritic cells (moDCs). Specifically, MIDRIX-LUNG-002 consists of type 2 conventional dendritic cells (cDC2), which are matured ex vivo and administered back to the patient to stimulate a potent anti-tumor immune response. cDC2s are recognized for their superior ability to present antigens via MHC class II to CD4+ T cells and their capacity to cross-present antigens to CD8+ T cells. The therapy is currently being evaluated in the Phase 1/2 DARE-LUNG clinical trial, often in combination with MIDRIX-LUNG-001 (cDC1), to induce a comprehensive and durable immune attack against lung cancer cells.
