MIDRIXNEO-LUNG is an autologous dendritic cell vaccine designed for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including metastatic and resected cases. The therapy involves isolating dendritic cells from the patient, loading them ex vivo with messenger RNA (mRNA) encoding tumor-specific neoantigens predicted from the individual patient's tumor mutanome, and then administering these activated cells intravenously back to the patient. The goal is to stimulate a robust immune response specifically targeting cancer cells expressing these neoantigens. It has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to establish safety, immunogenicity, and maximal tolerated dose in NSCLC patients. Developed by Ghent University Hospital, this personalized immunotherapy aims to overcome resistance seen with other immune checkpoint inhibitors in NSCLC.
