Overview

miFzd4 is an experimental RNA interference (RNAi) tool, specifically a vector-based microRNA or short hairpin RNA (shRNA) designed to target and silence the expression of the human **Frizzled-4 (FZD4)** receptor. In the context of Crohn's disease research, it is utilized to investigate the role of the Wnt signaling pathway in mediating epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and subsequent intestinal fibrosis. By reducing FZD4 levels in intestinal epithelial cells, such as the HT29 line, miFzd4 has been shown to partially reverse the induction of mesenchymal markers (e.g., vimentin and snail1) and the activation of beta-catenin signaling triggered by IFNγ-treated macrophages. This suggests that the Wnt2b/FZD4 axis is a critical pathway in the pathogenesis of fibrostenotic Crohn's disease.
