MIG-400 is a specialized vaginal ring delivery system containing 400 mg of micronized progesterone, developed by Nadezhda Reproductive Science OOD in collaboration with CCDRD Cooperative Clinical Drug Research and Development AG. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of adenomyosis, a condition characterized by the presence of endometrial glands and stroma within the myometrium. As a progesterone receptor agonist, the drug works by inducing decidualization and subsequent atrophy of the ectopic endometrial tissue, thereby reducing uterine volume and alleviating symptoms like dysmenorrhea and heavy menstrual bleeding. The vaginal ring formulation is designed to provide sustained release of the hormone directly to the pelvic organs, leveraging the first-uterine-pass effect to achieve high local efficacy with reduced systemic exposure compared to oral administration.
