Overview

mIL-2 plasmid is a gene therapy construct consisting of a DNA plasmid vector encoding the murine Interleukin-2 (mIL-2) gene. It is designed to induce the expression and secretion of IL-2, a cytokine that plays a critical role in the activation and expansion of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. In preclinical research, particularly for renal cell carcinoma (RCC), the plasmid is delivered via hydrodynamic gene delivery to stimulate a systemic or localized anti-tumor immune response. It has been investigated as a monotherapy and in combination with chemotherapy (such as 5-fluorouracil) or other cytokine-encoding plasmids (such as mIL-12) to enhance therapeutic efficacy against metastatic lesions in the liver, lung, and kidney.
