MIL98 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody targeting CD47, developed by Beijing Tianguangshi Biotechnology (also known as Mabworks). CD47 is a cell surface protein that functions as a "don't eat me" signal by interacting with signal regulatory protein alpha (SIRPα) on macrophages, thereby inhibiting phagocytosis. By binding to CD47, MIL98 blocks this inhibitory signal, enabling macrophages to recognize and engulf malignant cells. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of advanced solid tumors and hematologic malignancies, often in combination with other therapies to enhance anti-tumor immunity. MIL98 is designed to have reduced binding to red blood cells to minimize the risk of anemia, a common side effect of CD47-targeted therapies.
