Milataxel is an orally bioavailable small molecule taxane with potential antineoplastic activity. It acts as a microtubule-stabilizing agent by binding to and stabilizing tubulin, thereby inhibiting microtubule depolymerization. This results in cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and inhibition of tumor cell proliferation. Milataxel and its major active metabolite M-10 are less susceptible to efflux by the multidrug resistance (MDR) P-glycoprotein pump compared to other taxanes, making it potentially useful for treating multidrug-resistant tumors. The drug has been investigated primarily for oncology indications, including mesothelioma, non-small cell lung cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and other malignancies. Clinical development reached phase II trials but was discontinued due to toxicity concerns at higher doses[1][3][4][8].
