Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Milfasartan (美阿沙坦钾) is a small molecule angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) developed by Beijing Foyou Pharmaceutical for the treatment of hypertension. It acts as a selective antagonist of the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, thereby inhibiting the vasopressor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II. By blocking these pathways, milfasartan promotes vasodilation and reduces peripheral vascular resistance, leading to a decrease in blood pressure. The drug is approved in China for the management of essential hypertension and is typically administered as a potassium salt formulation.
