Overview
Mineral Ice Pain Relieving Gel is an over-the-counter topical analgesic gel containing 2% menthol as its active ingredient, used to provide temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain associated with arthritis, backache, strains, sprains, bruises, and similar conditions.[2][3][7] Menthol acts as a counterirritant, activating cold-sensing TRP channels in cutaneous sensory neurons to produce a cooling then warming sensation that distracts from deeper musculoskeletal pain and may modulate nociceptive signaling.[5][7] The product is formulated as a greaseless, fast-absorbing gel with additional excipients such as isopropyl alcohol, carbomer, magnesium sulfate, cupric sulfate, ammonium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, thymol, coloring, and water, and is applied to intact skin up to 3–4 times daily for localized, non-systemic pain relief.[2][3]
