Overview

Minhai human diploid cell rabies vaccine is a lyophilized, purified inactivated rabies virus vaccine developed by Beijing Minhai Biotechnology. It is produced using human diploid cells (HDCV), which is considered the gold standard for rabies vaccines due to the absence of foreign animal proteins and neurotoxicity factors. The vaccine is intended for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) against rabies, utilizing either the 5-dose Essen regimen or the 4-dose Zagreb regimen to induce protective neutralizing antibodies. In Phase 3 clinical trials conducted in collaboration with the Jiangsu Province Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the vaccine demonstrated non-inferiority in safety and immunogenicity compared to existing commercial HDCVs.
