Mino-Lok (ML-01) is an investigational antibiotic lock solution developed by Citius Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI) and central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI). It consists of a proprietary combination of minocycline (a tetracycline antibiotic), rifampicin (a rifamycin antibiotic), and disodium edetate (EDTA, a chelating agent). The solution is designed to be instilled into the lumen of an indwelling central venous catheter, where it acts to penetrate and eradicate bacterial biofilms that are typically resistant to systemic antibiotic therapy. By clearing the intraluminal infection, Mino-Lok aims to salvage the catheter and avoid the complications and costs associated with catheter removal and replacement. The product has completed Phase 3 clinical testing, demonstrating superiority over standard-of-care antibiotic locks in time to catheter failure.
