Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MinoCure is a topical ointment formulation of minocycline hydrochloride developed by Nano Intelligent Biomedical Engineering Corporation (NIBEC) for the treatment of periodontitis. As a second-generation tetracycline antibiotic, minocycline exerts its primary antibacterial effect by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis in periodontal pathogens. Additionally, minocycline is known to possess non-antibiotic properties, including the inhibition of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which contributes to its anti-inflammatory effects and helps prevent the degradation of periodontal tissues. MinoCure is approved in South Korea (approval #제2618-3호) for local administration into periodontal pockets to manage infection and inflammation associated with gum disease.
