Overview

KIMS-004 is an incrementally modified drug (IMD) combination being developed by **Kims Pharmaceutical** for the treatment of **periodontitis**. It consists of **minocycline hydrochloride**, a tetracycline antibiotic, and **dexamethasone sodium phosphate**, a corticosteroid anti-inflammatory agent. The drug is designed as a novel formulation for local administration directly into the periodontal pocket, aiming to simultaneously address the bacterial infection and the associated inflammatory response that characterizes periodontal disease. Minocycline acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, while dexamethasone reduces inflammation by activating the glucocorticoid receptor. KIMS-004 is currently in **Phase 1** clinical development to evaluate its safety and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers.
