miocamycin

Miocamycin is a macrolide antibiotic used primarily for the treatment of respiratory tract infections and other bacterial infections. It acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing peptide chain elongation. Miocamycin is structurally related to other macrolides such as erythromycin and josamycin. It has been developed and marketed mainly in Japan and some European countries for indications including pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and skin infections caused by susceptible organisms.
