Overview

miR-1 mimic is a synthetic, double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to emulate the biological activity of the endogenous microRNA miR-1. In various cancers, including high-grade muscle-invasive bladder cancer, miR-1 is frequently downregulated and functions as a tumor suppressor. The miR-1 mimic acts by binding to the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of target mRNAs, most notably those encoding components of the ERK MAPK signaling pathway. This binding leads to translational repression or mRNA degradation, thereby reducing the protein levels of ERK MAPK and inhibiting tumor cell proliferation and survival. While primarily used as a research tool to study gene regulation and potential therapeutic pathways, miR-1 mimics represent a class of RNA-based therapeutics aimed at restoring lost tumor-suppressive functions.
