miR-106b LNA knock-down probe is a synthetic antisense oligonucleotide incorporating Locked Nucleic Acid (LNA) modifications, designed to potently and specifically inhibit microRNA-106b (miR-106b). LNA technology involves a ribose modification that "locks" the sugar ring in a 3'-endo conformation, significantly increasing the stability and binding affinity of the probe to its complementary miRNA target. In oncology research, particularly concerning hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), this probe is utilized to investigate the oncogenic role of miR-106b, which is frequently overexpressed in metastatic disease. By sequestering miR-106b, the probe facilitates the study of downstream pathways, such as the restoration of E-cadherin expression and the inhibition of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), leading to reduced cell migration and invasion in preclinical models.
